Privacy
In short: there are no accounts, our pages set no cookies, and our measurement never includes your IP address, your browser's identifying details, or any ID that could link one visit to another.
Stored on your device
Your browser keeps your settings (text size, colors, animations), games in progress, which daily puzzles you have played and the date of your last visit in its local storage on this device. It doesn't send them to us. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes them, and they don't follow you to another device or browser unless you move them with a link. That link carries your games itself, in a part of the address that browsers never send to us.
To let the games open without internet, the site also keeps a copy of its own pages and game files (the cards, tiles, pictures and puzzles) in your browser. This copy contains nothing about you.
What we measure
To learn which games people play and whether they work well, our pages send short, anonymous event notes, such as “a Sudoku game was started” or “a FreeCell deal was won”. Each note can include:
- the page and game, and whether it was a daily puzzle;
- a broad device type (phone, tablet or computer) and browser family (for example Safari or Firefox);
- where the visit came from, in broad groups only (for example “a search engine” or “a bookmark”), never the address of the page;
- rounded counts and times, such as moves, undos, hints and a time band like “2 to 10 minutes”;
- how many days since your last visit, as a band (for example “2 to 7 days”), worked out on your device;
- how many pages you have opened in this visit, as a band (for example “3 to 5”), counted on your device and forgotten when you close the tab.
When we store a note we add the date and a country group: one of a few English-speaking countries, “other”, or “unknown”. We don't store the time of day, your IP address, your browser's user-agent string, or any identifier. Notes cannot be joined together to follow one person.
To protect the site from abuse, we keep a scrambled, shortened form of the address a request came from in memory for about a minute, to limit how often events can be sent. The scramble changes every day.
Advertising
If we add advertising to some game pages, this section will say who serves it and what it collects before it appears. Our ad policy sets out the rules any advertising here must follow.
