How to play Spiderette Solitaire
Spiderette is Spider with one deck. Build four full runs from King down to Ace, each in one suit. A complete run clears off the table by itself, and you win when all four are done.
- Seven columns are dealt, like Klondike: one card in the first, up to seven in the last, with only the bottom card of each face up. The other 24 cards stay in the stock.
- A card can go on any card one rank higher, in any suit: a 6 on any 7.
- Only cards of one suit in order, like 9, 8, 7 of spades, move together. A mixed stack moves one card at a time.
- Any card or run can go into an empty column.
- Choose the stock to deal one new card onto every column. The last deal has three cards, for the first three columns. You can't deal while a column is empty.
- To move a card, tap it, then tap the column it should go to.
Undo has no limit, and it can take back a deal from the stock too.
Tips
- With only seven columns, an empty one is precious. Use it to sort a mixed stack into one suit before you deal.
- Build in one suit when you can: only same-suit runs move together.
- Turn over face-down cards early, especially in the long columns on the right.
Keyboard
Arrow keys move between cards and columns. Enter or Space selects a card and places it. D deals from the stock, H shows a hint, Escape cancels a selection, and Ctrl+Z undoes a move.
Questions
How is Spiderette different from Spider?
Spiderette uses one deck instead of two, laid out in seven columns like Klondike. You build four runs instead of eight, but with fewer columns there's less room to sort the cards, so it's often harder.
Why can't I deal from the stock?
You can't deal while a column is empty. Put any card or run into it first. The stock deals one card onto each column, and the last deal has only three cards, for the first three columns.
