How to play Yacht Dice
Yacht is a dice game for one or more players, played with five dice and a score card of 13 boxes. A game is 13 rounds, and each round you fill one box. The aim is the highest total.
- On your turn, roll all five dice. You can roll again up to two more times. Before each roll, tap the dice you want to keep; the others are rolled again.
- After your last roll (or sooner, if you like the dice), choose an empty box on the score card. The card shows what the dice would score in each box.
- Ones to Sixes score the dice showing that number: three 5s in Fives is 15. If these six boxes add up to 63 or more, you get 35 more points.
- Three of a Kind and Four of a Kind score all five dice, if at least three (or four) are alike.
- Full House, three alike and two alike, scores 25. Small Straight, four numbers in a row, scores 30. Large Straight, five in a row, scores 40.
- Yacht, all five dice alike, scores 50. Chance takes any roll and scores all five dice.
- If the dice don't fit the box you choose, it scores 0. Every box must be filled once, so sometimes you have to give one up.
Play alone for your best score, or choose to play against the computer under the score card. Playing alone, Undo takes back the box you just chose. There is no time limit.
Tips
- Go for the upper bonus: three of each number in Ones to Sixes is exactly 63.
- Keep Chance for a roll that fits nowhere else.
- With a pair or three alike, keep them and roll the rest: that gives you chances at a Yacht, Four of a Kind and Full House at once.
Keyboard
R rolls, keys 1 to 5 keep or free a die, Tab reaches the score boxes, Enter scores, H shows a hint and Ctrl+Z undoes a box when you play alone.
Questions
How do I keep dice?
After a roll, tap a die to keep it. It's marked Kept and stays put when you roll again. Tap it again to roll it after all.
What if a roll doesn't fit any box?
You still have to choose a box, and it scores 0 there. Chance takes any roll, so it's a good place for a poor one, if it's still empty.
How does the bonus work?
If your Ones to Sixes add up to 63 or more, you get 35 extra points. That's three of each number, so aim for at least three in each upper box.
Can I take back a choice?
Playing alone, yes: Undo takes back the box you just scored, with the dice as they were. Against the computer there's no Undo, so it stays fair.
