Card games to play by yourself
Every game here is played alone, against the cards. They're grouped by how long a game takes and how much is skill rather than luck. Free, with no sign-up.
Quick games
A few minutes each. You turn or pair cards with only a handful of choices, so they're easy to learn and good for a short break. Clock Solitaire has no choices at all: it either comes out or it doesn't.
-
TriPeaks Solitaire Clear three peaks, playing cards one higher or lower than the waste.
-
Golf Solitaire Seven columns, all face up. Clear them one card at a time.
-
Aces Up Throw away cards until only the four Aces are left.
-
Clock Solitaire Thirteen piles round a clock face. Turn the cards and see if it comes out.
The classics
The solitaires most people already know. Klondike is the one that came with Windows; Spider with one suit is the gentlest way into Spider; FreeCell shows every card, so it's all planning.
More skill, less luck
Long games where good play wins most deals. Spider with two or four suits, Yukon and Russian Solitaire let you move any face-up group; Forty Thieves and Scorpion are among the hardest classic solitaires.
-
Yukon Solitaire Klondike with every card dealt out. Move any face-up group.
-
Russian Solitaire Yukon built in suit. Any face-up card moves with the cards on it.
-
Forty Thieves Two decks, ten columns, building down in suit. A real challenge.
-
Spider Solitaire (2 Suits) Spider with spades and hearts. The middle level.
-
Spider Solitaire (4 Suits) Spider with all four suits. The classic hard level.
-
Scorpion Solitaire Build each suit from King to Ace. Any face-up card moves with the cards on it.
Something different
Solitaires with an idea of their own: pairs that add up to 13 in Pyramid, a single line of 52 cards in Accordion, a reserve and moving foundations in Canfield, and Klondike variations with two decks or no waste pile.
-
Easthaven Solitaire Klondike in seven short columns, with a stock that deals a card onto each one.
-
Double Solitaire Klondike with two decks: nine columns and eight foundations.
-
Pyramid Solitaire Pair up cards that add up to 13 to clear the pyramid.
-
Canfield Solitaire A 13-card reserve and foundations that start from any rank.
-
Spiderette Solitaire One-deck Spider in a Klondike layout. Build four runs, King to Ace.
-
Accordion All 52 cards in a line. Squeeze them into one pile.
